Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you all to the second – this time virtual – book launch of “Feminist Reconfigurings of Alien Encounters: Ethical Co-Existence in More-than-Human Worlds” <https://www.routledge.com/Feminist-Reconfigurings-of-Alien-Encounters-Ethical-Co-Existence-in-More-than-Human-Worlds/Lykke-Aglert-Henriksen/p/book/9781032447568> by Nina Lykke, Katja Aglert and Line Henriksen.

The book has just come out in the book series Routledge FOCUS on More-than-Human Humanities<https://www.routledge.com/More-Than-Human-Humanities/book-series/MTHH>, edited by Cecilia Åsberg and Marietta Radomska. The launch forms part of The Eco- and Bioart Lab Webinar Series<https://ecobioartlab.net/events-and-activities/>.

Earlier this month those of you living in Stockholm had an opportunity to take part in a physical book launch at Index<https://indexfoundation.se/talks-and-events/bookshop-situation-series-feminist-reconfigurings-of-alien-encounters>. This time we all have a chance to celebrate this thrilling publication virtually.

The launch takes place on 30th April at 16:15 – 18:00 CEST on Zoom.

More about the event:

The book reclaims the notion of alien encounters together with strange but queerly loved companions: Vulgar slugs, diatoms (micro-algae), and familiars (spirit guides of witches). This playfully crafted mixed-genre book is informed by feminist posthumanisms and co-created with a spectral community of more-than-humans who are respectfully summoned to contribute with their perspectives. In focus of the entangled artistic-philosophical-poetic investigations are questions of ethics, aesthetics, and methodologies to co-exist response-ably rather than based on modern human beliefs in exceptionalism and entitlement to sovereignty, control, and conquest of more-than-human worlds.

During the launch event, the authors and book series editor will introduce the book, and perform live readings from the poetic texts that together with philosophical reflections run through the book. Participants will also be invited to try out a creative writing prompt, perhaps leading you to a lovingly queer encounter with your own aliens.

Speakers:
Nina Lykke, co-author, poet, writer and professor of gender studies, Linköping University.
Katja Aglert, co-author, artist, Senior Lecturer of Fine Art, Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design.
Line Henriksen, co-author, Senior Lecturer in Literature and Creative Writing, Malmö University.
