POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN MEDICAL PHYSICS
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Openings are now available for research appointments in the Department of Medical Physics at the postdoctoral level for individuals interested in pursuing a career in medical physics. The position involves clinical and experimental research using multiparametric MRI in lung tumors for therapy response assessment. The successful applicant will be involved in advanced MR image analysis method including motion correction algorithms for dynamic contrast enhanced MRI.
Specific responsibilities include: Developing, modifying and executing image analysis protocols in order to analyze MRI scans from 3T Philips MR scanner; Participating in the development and optimization of new scanning protocols for lung MRI and in all aspects of MR data analysis and data management.

Required qualifications include: a Ph.D. in MRI Physics, computer science, biomedical engineering, or related fields. Applicants should have interest and expertise in all aspects of proton MRI and in advanced image analysis techniques. Expertise in scientific computing including matlab, C/C++ and experience with image registration and segmentation would be a plus. The candidate will also have the opportunity to gain clinical experience as a medical physicist. Selected candidates who satisfactorily complete all aspects of the postdoctoral research fellowship will be given preferential admission to the two-year MSKCC CAMPEP Accredited Residency Program in Therapeutic Medical Physics or residency program in diagnostic medical physics for year 2017.

The Department of Medical Physics consists of over forty faculty physicists plus support staff working on various physical problems related to diagnosis and therapy for cancer. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and is recognized as a world leader in clinical cancer care and research.
