The REMESO newsletter will be circulated periodically every semester, with information on the Institute's activities and courses at the Graduate School. 

REMESO is an Institute within Linköping University, Sweden, located to Campus Norrköping. REMESO is a "Centre of Excellence" financed by FAS - The Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research -, Linköping University, Norrköping Municipality as well as other Research Councils and agencies. 




REMESO WELCOMES APPLICATIONS FOR TWO POSITIONS AS DOCTORAL STUDENT IN ETHNIC AND MIGRATION STUDIES (2014-04-08)
Two positions are now vacant as doctorate student at REMESO. These are doctorates in Ethnic and Migration Studies ? focusing on labour market restructuring and welfare state transformation in globalised societies.

URBAN SOCIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENTS - WHAT CHANCE DO THEY HAVE? (2014-04-11)
Megafonen (The Megaphone) and Pantrarna (The Panthers) are examples of new social movements that are growing up among youth in the suburbs, most often among youth with immigrant backgrounds. They are working against the dismantling of the welfare state and for the regeneration of the suburbs. They are a new form of organisation, according to researchers at REMESO.

REMESO GRADUATE SCHOOL FALL COURSES (2014-04-13)
This fall the REMESO Graduate School will offer two courses, "Theories of Ethnicity and Nationalism: Historical and Contemporary Debates" and "Citizenship, Ethnic Division and Social Exclusion: National and Post-national Perspectives".

REMESO RESEARCHER'S ARTICLE SELECTED "OUTSTANDING PAPER OF 2013" (2014-04-02)
The article ?Labour Migration and Informalisation: East meets West? published in 'International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy' (2013, 33:11/12) has been selected as the Outstanding Paper of 2013. The article is written by Branka Likic-Brboric, Zoran Slavnic and Charles Woolfson, all at REMESO.

STEFAN JONSSON: BOOK LAUNCH AND LECTURE IN NEW YORK AND MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY (2014-02-22)
Next week Stefan Jonsson will discuss his new book, Crowds and Democracy: The Idea and Image of the Masses from Revolution to Fascism (Columbia UP)with Andreas Huyssen and Gayatri Spivak, Columbia University. The event takes place at Deutsches Haus in New York. Prior to that he gives a lecture at Michigan University.

MIGRANTS? CHILDREN AS WELL INTEGRATED AS SWEDES? CHILDREN (2014-01-27)
Children of immigrants have less education and get lower level jobs than children of the majority population. That is the impression one gets when looking at broad-based statistics. But REMESO researcher Alireza Behtoui has shown that when you break them down, the statistics tell another story.
