"White talk" among students, distancing , defensive faculty, teaching exhaustion due to the nature of the topic "white fragility". These are often untold aspects of teaching about race and gender. This conversation focus on ways in which white feminism centers itself and keeps Black, Third World, Indigenous, postcolonial and other non-white/non-western forms of feminism at the margins, and the consequences this has on gender and race relations in a power setting such as a classroom.

The Workshop is lead by Anaïs Duong-Pedica, PhD candidate Åbo Akademi University in Finland. Her thesis focuses on ‘mixed-race’ (métis•se) identity in Kanaky New Caledonia. Her academic interests are in anti-racism, feminism, colonialism and critical (mixed-) race studies. She is currently teaching a course entitled ‘White Women & White Feminism’ in the Masters programme in Social Exclusion at Åbo Akademi University. http://www.racialjusticenetwork.co.uk/white-fragility/
