(On-campus week in Norrköping, 29 November–3 December)

In today’s world, migration and the politics of borders are issues that cut across economic, political and socio-cultural concerns in all societies and nation-states. Indeed, migration, ethnicity and cultural diversity are features of contemporary societies that focus attention on the future shape of social justice and the meaning of a ‘good society’.
This course brings together experts from different disciplinary and theoretical perspectives to explore key aspects of these issues from a political economy lens. The course explores these issues through the following topics: precarious labour; macroeconomics and migration; the racialization of welfare; EU labor agreements; the moral economies of migration; the migrant detention economy; alternative migration policies toward social justice. The course offers students insights from research that engages with local, regional and global policy, advocacy and resistance.
Deadline for applications: 1 November
