<p><span lang="EN-GB" style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Cambria','serif'">This course aims to engage students in exploring and critically analysing perspectives on citizenship, the interrelations between citizenship and migration, and different models of citizenship—post-national,
cosmopolitan, trans-national, etc.—beyond and below the level of the nation-state. Different conceptions of citizenship are examined in their practical translations with regard to ethnic and social exclusion/inclusion in policy making, legal frameworks and
institutions. As the analysis of citizenship must go beyond the nation-state framework, the course takes a closer look at EU-led initiatives designed to combat discrimination and ethnic and social exclusion.</span></p>
