The Swedish Research Council’s Graduate School in Migration and Integration:




Mixed Methods in Ethnic and Migration Research, 7.5 ECTS



11 November – 13 December 2024, On-campus week in Norrköping, 25-29 November



Deadline for applications: October 11, 2024



The course addresses dilemmas and difficulties that researchers confront when collecting and interpreting data about migration, ethnic relations, diversity, discrimination, racism and social inclusion/exclusion.



Different methodological solutions will be presented and discussed, covering both quantitative and qualitative methods, including ethnographic research and visual methodologies. The course highlights the cross-disciplinary aspects of migration research as well as the demands placed on data collection and sampling, relating to power relations (majority/minority), insider/outsider dilemmas, problems of representation, cross-cultural translation and other ethical considerations.



Focusing on methods and methodology in the concrete, participants will also get feedback on their own ongoing projects.

  *   One on-campus week (25-29 November) at Campus Norrköping, Linköping University.
  *   No tuition fee.
  *   Accommodation in Norrköping covered for all participants.
