We are pleased to welcome an international panel of syndicalists based in Malmö, London, Rabat,
and Toronto whose work to enroll migrants, domestic workers, sex workers, and those working in
the irregular economy has a great deal to teach us about the labour struggles of the contemporary.
The format will feature presentations from the panelists, a moderated discussion and open question forum.

Pouran Djampour studies migration, welfare services and "deservingness"

allowed welfare services, and which are not, look like? What are the differences
between England, Denmark and Sweden? This is studied by Pouran Djampour,
new post doc at REMESO, and colleagues for two years.
Djampour answers four questions about her research.

New collegues at REMESO

Minoo is Associate Professor in Sociology, previously at Södertörns University.
She will be a Senior Lecturer at REMESEO. Her research interest are globalization,
post-colonial migration, ethnic relations, diaspora, social movements.
She will be joining the teaching team at REMESO
while she also finishes a book on authorities and institutions racialization of
migrant women, and how that affects them.

Paula Mählck is Associate Professor in Sociology at Stockholm University.
She will stay with REMESO for two years as Senior Lecturer and work on
the research project: Madame and the Maid: A Narrative study of household
work and post-colonial racism in Dar es Salaam.

How has life changed for immigrants? The students in the Master program in Ethnic and Migration
Studies have looked into this and created a report within their course Critical Cases.
The results are now shown in an exhibition in LOBBY at Campus Norrköping.

New Book on 'White Melancholia'<https://liu.se/nyhet/svenskhet-under-lupp-i-ny-bok>
Ny bok om 'Vit melankoli'

changed the image of the progressive Sweden as a beacon for antiracism
and humanitarianism. The loss and the mourning of the "old" racially homogenous
Sweden and the "good" politically progressive Sweden delineates the concept and
the current state of white melancholia that permeates today's political landscape,
increasingly influenced by white male right-wing radicalism. This is the topic for a
new book written by Catrin Lundström, REMESO, LiU, and Tobias Hübinette, Karlstad University.
