The opponent is Stefan Svallfors, professor in sociology. He´s been a chair in sociology both at Umeå University and Södertörn University College, and presently, he's an affiliated professor at the Institute of Future Studies. Lately, his research has touched upon topics such as the problems of revolving doors, and a particular focus on so called "policy professionals", that is, individuals employed to do politics and affect politics (e.g., political advisors, political secretaries, PR consultants, think-tank intellectuals) but without any formal grounds of legitimacy vs the electorate. He´s recently published a monograph titled Politics for Hire: The World and Work of Policy Professionals, 2020, Routledge), and has published himself in journals such as European Sociological Review, European Political Science Review, Politics & Policy, and British Journal of Sociology.
