The REMESO newsletter will be circulated periodically every semester, with information on the Institute's activities and courses at the Graduate School. 

REMESO is an Institute within Linköping University, Sweden, located to Campus Norrköping. REMESO is a "Centre of Excellence" financed by FAS - The Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research -, Linköping University, Norrköping Municipality as well as other Research Councils and agencies. 




COURSES 2015 AT REMESO GRADUATE SCHOOL NOW PUBLISHED (2014-10-21)
During 2015 the REMESO Graduate School will offer five course, four regular Graduate School course and one elective.

CALL FOR ARTICLES TO A SPECIAL ISSUE ON LABOUR, MIGRATION AND AUSTERITY (2014-10-21)
Professors Charles Woolfson and Aruna Juskas are co-editing a special issue of the journal Ethnicity Studies. The theme of the issue is 'Labour and Migration in an Age of Austerity'.

CARE AND RACISM AMONGST SD WOMEN (2014-09-24)
Women who are members the Sweden Democrats (SD) are driven by a desire to care ? for ?Swedes? who have to be protected from outsiders, as well as for the people who come to Sweden. The best solution ? including for these immigrants ? is that they return home and get help there, or in a nearby country. All according to a study of female SD members.

SECOND GENERATION IMMIGRANTS, SMALL COMPANIES AND FAMILY EMPLOYMENT (2014-09-16)
In the latest issue of Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies (Vol 12:3) Martin Klinthäll and Susanne Urban have published an article which discuss coethnic employment in small business companies for second generation immigrants.

ALJAZEERA COLUMNIST PRAISE NEW BOOK ON EURAFRICA (2014-09-15)
Professors Peo Hansen and Stefan Jonsson, REMESO, have come out with a new book, Eurafrica, which traces the colonial roots  behind the making of the European Union. The Columnist Minna Salami, Aljazeera, praise the book in an article in which she discusses the current geo-political interests in EU:s relationship to and intiatives in Africa.

"THE PRECARIAT" UNDER SCRUTINY (2014-09-12)
Three REMESO researchers have published an article in International Migration, in which they analyse the concept and phenomenon of a growing precariat and discuss it in relation to migration and a global democratic deficit.

LEARN SWEDISH OR LEARN TO BE SWEDISH? (2014-09-10)
Swedish language instruction for adult immigrants focuses more on culture than on the language itself. This takes energy from language acquisition. The students are taught to be good Swedes, rather than learning Swedish, according to a new doctoral thesis at REMESO.

WORKSHOP ON HIGH-SKILLED MIGRATION (2014-06-14)
REMESO has organised a workshop on high-skilled migration, a field that has received relatively little attention within critical migration studies. The topic is highly relevant as global competition for foreign labour affect policy on migration and labour conditions.
