There are a few interesting systems biology workshops on the way:

THE FIRST OF THEM HAS A SIGN-UP DEADLINE ON APRIL 1

* First comes a workshop entitled "Systems biology in Sweden". It takes place in Uppsala, on Eklundshof (http://www.eklundshof.se/) May 23-24. There are some 10 people from Linköping who have already decided to go, but it would for sure be nice to be more, to show that we have a wide range of systems biology activities here at LiU. SIGN-UP BEFORE APRIL 1, by sending an email to me. If you represent a unique group or research direction within systems biology, it is still possible to get a spot to give a presentation.

* Then in June there are a series of 4 workshops devoted to various aspects of systems biology. The first three are rather specific, and semi-closed (but if you are from LiU, and interested, we will make sure that you get a spot). The last one, however, is devoted to Systems Biology at LiU, and is open and intended for all groups and students/scientists interested in systems biology. This takes place June 22-23, and then you will also meet the newly recruited guest professors Hiroaki Kitano (chairman of the International Society for Systems Biology), and Jens Timmer (former Speaker of HepatoSys, the to-date largest national systems biology network). More information on all these 4 workshops is available here:

Please reply if you are able/not able to attend the workshop(s) in June at the latest on May 1, whereafter I will put together a detailed programme.

Finally, as you might have heard, we have quite advanced plans to form a core-facility on mathematical modelling of biological systems. This is intended to serve as a physical centre for all groups interested in systems biology, where they can have students and researchers sitting for part of the time, as a complement to working in their own group. We have now been given access to a few rooms, and an adjacent office/student area, and have some 4-6 groups that will take place in the initial formations. If you are interested in finding out more, I will give a talk at IMT (seminar room IMT1) on Thursday 31/3 at 14-14.45. And we will then have a discussion on some practical start-up things on Monday 4/4 at 16.00-17.00 . More info on this will also come out in future emails, and on our homepage http://www.liu.se/forskning/lcsb?l=sv

Welcome!
