Dear fellow systems biologists,

the autumn has started, and it is time for us to start the seminar series. We will this semester have it approximately every second week (avoiding the CMIV seminars). The first one is already TOMORROW MONDAY, and the topics of both the first two ones are now settled:

* tomorrow, September 26, at 15.30-17 in IMT2. The topic this time is the international conference of systems biology. This is the biggest conference in the field (http://www.icsb-2011.net/icsb-2011/), and this year over 10 people from Linköping attended. All that were there: please think of interesting talks, posters, or other observations that you did (and learn to say it in <5 min); all others please think of things you might be interested in knowing or discussing about the conference.

* October 10, Eva-Maria Hansson. "Understanding drug retention in cartilage tissue using reaction-diffusion modelling". Eva-Maria will talk about her time at Merrimack Pharmaceuticals which is a systems-biology centred drug-development company situated in Boston, and from which Eva-Maria has just came home from a 6 month internship.

* The remaining seminars this autumn will be October 24, November 14, November 28, and December 12. All lectures will be in either IMT1 or IMT2, which are two adjacent rooms at IMT, HU (the hospital area) floor 13; 15.30-17.00; and in English.

* The main big event this autumn will be December 5-7, where we again will make use of the visit of one of our guest professors, this time Hiroaki Kitano, which we combine with a little workshop with the title "Can systems biology aid personalized medication?". It will consist of a mixture of internal and external speakers, and more information can found here:

Welcome to this autumn's systems biology events!
